Dave Chapman, our Sales & Service Manager, Canadian Operations, will be speaking at EXTRACTION 2018, the Global Metallurgy Conference in Ottawa, Ontario, August 26-29, 2018.
Dave’s paper co-authored by RPS Project Engineer, Tony Zacharewych, on Custom Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Piping (FRP) Applications in Mineral Processing will be delivered Monday morning, August 27th.
Abstract: There are a variety of choices of materials for mineral extraction processing. Traditionally, end users have used metallic piping for fluid handling and little is known about the advantages (or limitations) of non-metallic piping systems. This presentation will review custom FRP pipe systems and their use in severe corrosive and erosive process streams. These systems can be designed to various pressure and temperature ratings and different components (such as resin and glass type) can be varied to suit the process conditions.
Dave Chapman is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Dalhousie University. Dave started at RPS in 1992 as a Project Engineer primarily focused on design and support for FRP pipe manufacturing. In 1995 he moved into the Aerospace Industry where he served as a Project Manager for Composites Atlantic, a division of Airbus. Dave returned to RPS in 1997 and joined the Sales and Project Coordination team becoming the Manager of Project Coordination in 2008. Today Dave is the Sales and Service Manager for Canada and focuses on seeking out opportunities for the supply of custom FRP and Dual Laminate Piping, Equipment, and Field Service.
