FRP Systems

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP)
FRP pipe systems offer excellent corrosion resistance to a broad range of chemical environments from strong acids to bleaches. RPS offers a range of standard designs as well as custom designed systems to meet specific customer requirements.

FRP Options
Surfacing Veil – “C” glass, polyester (Nexus), or Carbon Veil
Chopped Strand Mat Layers – multiple layers of chopped strand mat from 0.05” to 0.50” thickness
Structure – Standard pipe construction is filament wound.  Pipe structure is also available as contact molded; Fittings are either contact molded or a combination of contact molded and filament wound
Exterior Protection – Full exterior corrosion barriers available where exterior exposure to aggressive chemicals is present.
Resins – Isophthalic Polyesters, Chlorendic Polyesters, Vinyl Esters, High Temperature Vinyl Esters, Fire Retardant Vinyl Esters

Dual Laminate Systems

Dual Laminate pipe systems incorporate a thermoplastic liner in an FRP structure combining the enhanced corrosion resistance of thermoplastics with the higher strength and load carrying capabilities of FRP. Dual Laminate pipe systems extend the application of composites to more aggressive chemical environments and provide longer service life in many applications.

MAXAR™, our own line of FEP pipe, is chemically inert to a broad range of commercial chemicals including acids, chlorides, sulfates, bleach solutions, caustics, etc. FEP has a low coefficient of friction and is less susceptible to thermal shock.

Corrosion Barrier
Thermoplastic Liners – Full line of Vinyls, Olefins, and Fluoropolymers including Polypropylene (PP), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC), Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP), Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), Ethylene ChloroTriFluoroEthylene (ECTFE)

Bonding Layer – Vinyls (PVC and CPVC) are chemically bonded to the structural layer using a bonding resin. Olefins and Fluoropolymers (PP/HDPE/PVDF/FEP/PFA/ECTFE) undergo a proprietary bonding process whereby a glass backing layer is melt-bonded into the thermoplastic liner, resulting in full vacuum rating, and eliminating liner failure, particularly in thermal cycling applications.
Exterior Protection – Full exterior corrosion barriers available where exterior exposure to aggressive chemicals is present.
Resins – Vinyl Esters, High Temperature Vinyl Esters, Fire Retardant Vinyl Esters


HDPE/FRP – High Density Polyethylene Liner. Moderate Corrosion Resistance. Excellent Abrasion Resistance
PP/FRP – Polypropylene Liner
PVC/FRP – Polyvinyl Chloride Liner
CPVC/FRP – Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride

PVDF (Kynar)/FRP – Polyvinylidene Fluoride Liner
FEP (Teflon)/FRP – Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene Liner

We also have experience fabricating dual laminates with PFA/FRP – Perfluoroalkoxy Liner and ECTFE/FRP – Ethylene ChloroTriFluoroEthylene Liner. These fluoropolymers are less available, more expensive, and more difficult to process than Kynar and Teflon so have more limited application.

Electro Mechanical

Our Ohio facility specializes in the repair, rebuild, and service of Keystone Collector Heads and Carestone Polisher Bars for Steel Process Coating Lines. We are equipped to repair 15,000, 30,000 and 36,000 amp heads. We inspect collector heads, provide a detailed inspection report documenting failure analysis, and make recommendations for how to extend the lifespan of your collector heads. We also provide on site inspection and maintenance of polisher bars and collector heads.
