The Position:

We’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will plan and implement a strong Quality Assurance Program, ensuring that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with RPS standards, legislation, engineering and customer specifications with special attention to RTP-1 Standard compliance. What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership to the QA/QC program, developing and directing QA and quality improvement initiatives for organizational products and services
  • Maintain awareness of organizational profitability, including budgetary control issues
  • Monitor QA systems, including RTP-1 Stamp Certification and advise on system performance, report on key performance indicators
  • Perform gap analysis between applicable and current standards; establish and implement a quality plan to meet program goals, ensure standards & compliance in all areas as met
  • Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies and procedures
    Collaborate with client-facing QA/QC representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction with the company’s products and services
  • Establish and maintain a QA/QC program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers
  • Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, Continuous Improvement, etc.) into processes.
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization
  • Act as liaison with customer auditors and assume responsibility for ensuring corrective actions with customer specifications
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
  • Coach and support team members to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work
  • Create and maintain QA/QC control documentation
  • Identify relevant QA/QC training needs and opportunities
  • Review production processes, engineering specifications and related information to improve/update current knowledge and implementation of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  • Support and lead Continuous Improvement projects, resolve defect reductions, and ensure material optimization (waste reduction) using recognized tools such as 5Why, Kaizen, RCA etc…
  • Coordinate activities to establish, evaluate and improve the quality of the manufacturing process
  • Participate in generating production specifications for issue to the shop floor
  • Review of IFC drawings to the shop floor for completeness and “ready for build”
  • Increase the effectiveness of customer relationships as it related to quality and 3rd party inspection
  • Track and monitor waste, rework, NCRs, Quality Notifications and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence

 

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized Post Secondary Institution
  • Minimum 5 years experience in QA roles, manufacturing environment preferred
  • Professional engineering designation or ability to register preferred
  • ASQ Quality Engineering Certification (or equivalent) and/or Process and Business System Audit training/certification as asset
  • Knowledge and experience with Industry Quality Management Systems
  • Composites manufacturing processes experience an asset
  • Excellent people skills, communication, (written & oral) and Teamwork skills a must
  • Project Management and/or Root Cause and Corrective Action skills an asset
  • Knowledge/training with various manufacturing and quality philosophies (5S, LEAN, 6-Sigma, JIT, etc.) an asset
  • Strong MS Office skills, computer & software skills, ability to learn new software
  • Strong problem-solving skills from both a people and systems perspective
  • Good ability to document, manage QA program administration
