The Position:
The Purchasing Associate will assist with all aspects of Supply Chain Operations. This role includes purchasing, receiving, storing, shipping, as well as maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
What You Will Do:
- Assist with monitoring stock levels
- Maintain procurement records and track orders to ensure accuracy
- Assist with purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
- Prepare purchase orders and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Assist in streamlining procurement procedures
- In collaboration with leadership, compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists
- In collaboration with leadership, conduct research for new components and suppliers
- Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
- Support proposal and production teams
- Maintain and improve/enhance communications tracking boards
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and take the initiative to implement them
- Provide backup support to the Warehouse Associate and Buyer positions
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or business administration an asset
- 2+ years purchasing experience required, preferably in manufacturing
- Proficient in the use of computers and software
- Good understanding of OSHA and safety requirements in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrates professionalism and integrity in all interactions
- Ability to influence and work well with all internal & external stakeholders
- Sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive for success
- Must be able to travel as required (estimated: less than 10%)
- Excellent communication; oral and written
Environment & Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment, exposure to noise, chemicals, production hazards
- Computer usage, sitting, use of screens
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, hearing protection and protective footwear as required
- Need to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, for periods of time, lift 25-50lbs regularly
