The Position:

We’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join our Manufacturing Team. As part of our team, you will be responsible and accountable for the mechanical and electrical maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for all general maintenance and repair of plant facilities and grounds; including all planned and preventative maintenance and routine maintenance on a variety of equipment and machinery, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture within the team
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and hazard free working environment to defined standards
  • Assures compliance with 5S and housekeeping standards
  • Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety policies & procedures, and support a culture of safety; including wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, proper clothing, proper gloves as required for task)
  • Work flexible schedules if required, including nights, weekends, and on-call hours as a project plan or emergencies requires
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, hydraulic/pneumatic components, and power transmission systems
  • Provide input as requested regarding the design, installation, and maintenance of new equipment
  • Update and maintain records and reviews CMMS history
  • Repair and rebuild equipment as needed; disassemble and clean items; order replacement parts, reassemble and test items.
  • Bring production back online quickly through rapid analysis and repair
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures for equipment

What You Bring:

General Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

  • 5+ years’ experience plus proven success at plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Good computer skills with MS Office Suite, ability to learn new software, use digital planning software (Monday.com)
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs, positioning such as bend, squat, kneel, climb, balancing, crawling etc. for 3-8 hours per day
  • Strong people skills, with customer service focus and commitment to delivering value
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive for success
  • Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required

Mechanical Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot moderately complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, manuals and mechanical and electrical schematics, with the ability to replace machine parts from drawings or from the worn part as the example
  • Knowledge of belt drives, bearings, gearbox maintenance, chain drives, pneumatic actuators, directional control valves
  • Strong mechanical hand skills
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical malfunctions
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to weld (TIG, MIG, arc) is desirable
  • Fabricate parts and equipment as needed such as mounts, brackets, and shields; operate welding and cutting equipment
  • Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, forklift, manlifts etc.

Electrical Qualifications

  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Comfortable around voltages varying between 24v to 480v 3 phase.
