The Position:
The Field Services EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing and supporting environmental, health, and safety programs for field service operations involving the installation and maintenance of fiberglass piping and tanks. This role ensures compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT), and customer safety expectations at off-site job locations across various industries, including petrochemical, municipal, and industrial facilities.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA construction/general industry, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, etc.).
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EHS procedures and customer-specific safety requirements.
- Perform regular inspections of RPS facilities, vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Lead and document incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking for incidents and near misses.
- Coordinate with customer site safety representatives to align safety expectations and ensure adherence to customer protocols.
- Serve as site safety on projects such as shutdowns and turnaround projects as needed.
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and support Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development.
- Assist in Pre-job planning beginning with support to our Project Managers.
- Develop project specific safety plans to address safety issues and concerns at the beginning of projects as well as during projects as needed.
- Meet regularly with field associates to address safety issues and concerns for RPS and customers.
- Provide regular feedback to project leadership in a constructive manner on needed areas for safety improvement and recognition.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
- Support and enforce hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and other permit-required activities.
- Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding for field associates and subcontractors.
- Assist and co-facilitate safety training & testing for all employees utilizing computer-based and hands-on methods.
- Maintain and update training documentation in our Leaning Management System.
- Maintain and update EHS documentation in our Safety Management System.
- Track leading and lagging EHS indicators and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
- Support emergency preparedness, including rescue planning for confined spaces and remote job sites.
- Promote a strong safety culture through visibility, engagement, and proactive risk mitigation.
What You Bring:
- Degree in Occupational Safety Health or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of EHS experience in industrial construction, utilities, oil & gas, or similar field environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards for general industry and construction.
- Ability to travel frequently to job sites (50–75%).
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence without authority.
- CHST, CSP or ASP Certifications Preferred.
- OSHA 510(Required) and preference given to OSHA 500 authorized trainer
- Forklift/MEWP Trainer Certified (Required)
- CPR/FA/AED Certified Required (prefer Trainer Certification)
- Fall Protection and Scaffolding Competent Person (Required)
- Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Possess great interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multiple levels of site associates and management
- Ability to pass background/drug screen
- Bi-lingual, English and Spanish considered an asset
- Experience working with ISNetworld, Avetta, or customer-specific safety portals.
- Familiarity with fiberglass manufacturing processes and associated hazards.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to Noise, Heat, Cold, Dust, Chemicals & Chemical Vapors.
Physical Requirements
- Need to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, for periods of time, potential work at heights, lift 20-50lbs regularly,
