Senior Management Accountant (Senior Business Analyst)

The Position:

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team this role is focused on analyzing and reporting on all business and financial data across a group of companies to ensure we’re achieving our business goals and financial results. This role reports to the CEO and works closely with the Director of Finance and across the Senior Leadership team. This role has one Business Analyst as a direct report.

What You Will Do:

Month End:

  • Oversee Revenue recognition process within operations
  • Review Job Margin Reports Before Finalizing
  • Liaise regularly with finance staff to ensure accounts are closed in line with the month-end timetable and ensure that any P&L performance issues are fully understood
  • Construct Monthly Board Report and MD&A for discussion with CEO / Controller
  • Lead review meetings with Operational Leaders
  • Work with management to identify and improve performance issues
  • Continually review the financial performance of all companies across the group, assisting the Management Team in driving continuous improvement in processes

Forecasting Functions

  • Create and maintain complex financial modelling, including the preparation and review of all Profit & Loss planning and quarterly forecasting across a group of companies
  • Weekly Job Margin Review
  • In-month cost analysis and short-term EBITDA forecasting
  • Revenue/Backlog forecasting and analysis

Working Capital Management

  • Manage working capital in areas such as WIP and Inventory and report WC levels across the companies
  • Support cash flow forecasting

Lead Budgeting Process

  • Maintain and improve Annual Budget Models
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations leaders to build revenue
  • Collaborate with leaders to finalize budgets
  • Complete budget bridge analysis

Organizational Reporting & Business Intelligence Functions

  • Support Business Analyst in creating reports that drive strategic objectives
  • Support the expansion of the Power BI platform across the companies

Participate in Strategic Planning & Implementation

  • Support operational General Managers in developing executable strategies for growth and efficiencies
  • Support Sales in developing and implementing revenue plans
  • Review future goals/direction, support goal setting decisions and measure achievement/progress
  • Evaluate internal and external market factors

Support RPSIG in Acquisition Process

  • Participate in acquisition evaluation process where necessary
  • Integrate new operations into IG business systems

Supervisory & General

  • Supervise, coach and develop team members; create an effective, high performing team
  • Improve organizational reporting capabilities
  • Participate or lead other projects as required

 What You Bring:

  • Applicable post-secondary education such as Accounting or business degree
  • CMA or CPA credentials
  • Minimum of 5 years of management accounting within the manufacturing or industrial services operations
  • Demonstrated strong business analytical capability applying the data to inform future strategies and thinking
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office suite, ability to learn new software/technology/applications quickly – knowledge of Power BI an asset
  • Knowledge of job costing systems
  • Demonstrates systems thinking with ability to implement organizational wide processes, recommend new approaches
  • Ability to analyze future margins of business lines
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, analysis methodologies and internal controls
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Proactive, highly organized and solution oriented
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a high performing team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and focus in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to influence, drive change and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to learn new skills and apply new approaches
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other locations (Canada & US) if required
