Operations Manager – Manufacturing

Location: Maple, Ontario

Hundreds of piping, tank, and vessel installations in 45+ countries around the world speak to our experience providing composite solutions for corrosive fluid handling, processing, storage, and infrastructure challenges.

Today we operate manufacturing operations in Canada and the USA, inspection, distribution, and service centers on the Eastern USA seaboard, and field services throughout the USA.

The Position:

If you’re looking for an opportunity to demonstrate the full scope of your leadership capabilities and what’s possible this is an exciting challenge.  Managing manufacturing operations with an annual revenue between $8-$11 million, this role works collaboratively with the entire operations team to ensure success at our Maple facilities. Reporting to this role is the production supervisors, project management, quality and purchasing teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations
    • Ensures the achievement of financial, production and business goals
    • Reports on and manages to KPIs – (Productivity Index, Resource Utilization, Ontime delivery, % EBITDA)
    • Evaluates and improves overall performance
    • Strengthen the competitive position of the plant to enable growth through new business
  • Provides leadership and coordinates the work of:
    • Production team
    • Project Management and Estimating
    • Safety
    • Quality Assurance
    • Purchasing
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures; creates a safe and secure work environment
  • Oversees and adheres with organizational programs and policies related to Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Environmental Health and Safety
  • Collaboratively works across the organization for maximum effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Oversees people management:
    • Employee hiring, training and development, providing guidance and coaching to supervisors
    • Provides coaching and feedback, manages the performance and development of team members; creates a culture of accountability
    • Fosters team member engagement and supports an environment of respect, trust, and high performance
  • Manages and leads process improvement and enterprise initiatives
    • Sponsors and/or leads key enterprise initiatives
    • Digitalization and automation
    • Identify and drive local process improvement initiatives
  • Participate or lead other projects as required

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree preferred, or applicable post-secondary education
  • Proven experience in production/manufacturing leadership and management
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with composite materials in a production environment, knowledge of the corrosion market or heavy industrial clients, would be considered an asset
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to create high performing teams
  • Ability to be strategic yet be hands on if/when necessary to ensure overall results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates systems thinking with ability to implement operation-wide processes
  • Demonstrates good business acumen, managing financial results and internal controls
  • Proactive, highly organized and solution oriented
  • Ability to influence, lead change effectively and embrace continuous improvement/innovation
  • Good computer skills: MS Office suite, CRM, ERP systems, ability to learn new software /technology/applications quickly and effectively
  • This role works Monday-Friday, days, 40 hours/week
